Total tiger population in India is accessed to be around 1411, with a lower limit of 1165 and an upper limit of 1657! 
with a majority in Madhya Pradesh(thanks to its reserves, there are around 300 of them there), followed by Karnataka(290).
The major densities of the Tiger population is in around Central India and the Western Ghats.
